Matt Paden’s debut independent short film, Dear Charlie, is chicken soup for the creative heart. It is about the conflict between youthful dreams and the realities of life, and finding willpower to the point of stubbornness, to achieve that which the aspiring artist fears he cannot.
The film follows Charlie, a young film student, as he makes a time capsule to his future self during a tumultuous period of his early college life. As he plans his first class project, he faces adversity from all angles. Charlie battles with his emotions and plunges, either bravely or foolishly, into uncharted territory. In the end, however, he will have to decide what is truly important.
